And here’s the catch—because these helpers are usually native Korean speakers, they’ve never had to attend a Korean language school themselves. That means they often have no idea what to look for when choosing the best option.
 

So, what happens next? They search ‘Korean language school’ on Naver, Google, pick one that ranks high in search results, or simply choose the school closest to their location.

Think about it—when we look for an English, Japanese, or French language school, we carefully check reviews, pricing, and the overall reputation of the institution before making a decision. The same level of scrutiny should apply when choosing a Korean language school. A well-informed choice will save both time and money.

1. Is It a Legitimate Institution?👀

This may sound like an obvious question, but you’d be surprised by how many places listed online as ‘language schools’ are actually just private tutoring services. Many of these operate from shared office spaces or even cafes or their home. While there’s nothing inherently wrong with this, such setups often lack proper management, structured programs, and quality control.
 

A well-established school should have a team of instructors, a solid curriculum, and a structured support system. If the school is just one or two teachers handling everything on their own, it may not provide the best learning environment for long-term progress.

Imagine visiting a hospital—you wouldn’t expect to walk in and directly meet the doctor without first speaking to a receptionist or consultant, right? The same principle applies to language schools.
 

A proper Korean language school should have staff who specialize in student consultation and support.

These professionals should be fluent in English (at the very least) to ensure smooth communication with international students. If a school lacks dedicated student support staff, how will they address inquiries or assist with scheduling and learning concerns?

A good language school should accommodate students' schedules by allowing online lessons in cases where attending in person is difficult. If a school refuses to provide such flexibility, it may not be the best choice.
 

Of course, last-minute changes should be avoided whenever possible. However, life happens—unexpected events, emergencies, or illnesses can come up. Schools should have a reasonable rescheduling policy that allows for changes when truly necessary 😉

1. Does the school have its own curriculum and textbooks?
Many language schools use generic textbooks designed for university programs, which may not suit every student's needs. A school that has developed its own curriculum has likely invested heavily in quality education.




2. Are the instructors experienced?
Not all Korean teachers are equally qualified. Some may be newly certified with little experience, while others have years of expertise. Check if the school has a ranking or evaluation system for its instructors.




3. Do they provide personalized feedback?
Some schools only give a pass/fail grade without offering detailed feedback on areas for improvement. A quality institution will provide students with clear, constructive advice to help them grow.
